Aug 22 Webinar: Diabetes - A Call to Action

  • Posted on: Aug 13 2016

Public Health Advocates is pleased to offer the August 22nd webinar 'Diabetes: A Call to Action!' 10:00am-11:15am PST

It is crucial that we have a team of people ready and able to talk about the impact of the growing diabetes epidemic and we need YOU on the team. Spend a little over an hour with us and hone your ability to talk with your family, friends and colleagues about how prediabetes and diabetes are affecting your community and how to describe policy and programming solutions. Special emphasis will be placed on keeping the conversation focussed on community and policy solutions rather than on individual responsibility and blame. You will hear from experts about key messaging and Diabetes Prevention Programs (DPP). You will also have an opportunity to learn more about the findings of the recently released CCPHA (now PHAdvocates) / UCLA report, 'Prediabetes in California: Nearly Half of California Adults on Path to Diabetes.'

The webinar will be moderated by Public Health Advocates staff and will feature:

- Harold Goldstein, DrPH, Executive Director, Public Health Advocates

- Genoveva Islas, MPH, Director, Cultiva La Salud, Public Health Institute

- Marlayna Bollinger, Founder and Executive Director, Skinny Gene Project
